Yea build them!! I simply cant believe you could build or buy that for "low 500s" ! The average price of a home in whitehorse now is over 500 k and I can promise you aint getting anything even close to that!

do unto others as you would have them do unto you

When we build houses of cards we should be well aware of these huge swings be they viruses, financial etc. etc. There have always been individuals and firms that have the resources to really grow during these down turns and there are many of those waiting right now. The bigger difference today versus in the past many of those firms and individuals reside outside of the USA.

My boys are carpenters. They say in this area anyway, it costs more to build a new house than it will appraise for when it's completed. Maybe it's the same everywhere.

Sure. 9 months after the stay at home orders people are going to need bigger houses.

People should be able to spend their money any legal way they want. People who have a problem with rich people spending their money, should go work hard and smart and make their own money to spend as they want, rather than using the government to steal the money through taxes for them.

For the most part in America you get what you deserve from your own work.

"Summary: First-time home buyer loans and programs

Here are some of the most useful first-time home buyer loans and programs that you might overlook if you rush the process. They may score you some big savings.

FHA loan: The go-to loan program for buyers with weaker credit.

VA loan: No down payment loans for borrowers with a military connection.

USDA loan: 100% financing on rural properties.

Fannie and Freddie: Conventional loans with just 3% down.

State first-time home buyer program: Assistance specifically for residents.

Home renovation loan: Buy a home and remodel it with one loan.

Good Neighbor Next Door: Home price discounts for first responders and educators.

Dollar Homes: Foreclosed homes for sale by the government."

I just learned last year that Fannie Mae is actually FNMA. A local Fannie Mae default home came up for sale and turned out to be quite lucrative.

People spending this much on homes is purely due to low interest rates. Larger homes with larger environmental impacts because we are forced to keep interest rates low due to an economy built on debt.

Not a fan of duplex houses. I wonder if you will be able to hear the neighbor through the walls.

Although I could walk to my buddies house. He lives around the corner, plus a short ride to down town Lewes.
