Caught three so far. The first was a female and her teats had been nursed on, next a male and then another male. So I am thinking that the first two were mates and the third was last years young. So expecting more young but how many? Lots of tracks on the sand mound by the hole under the barn.

3-5 is typical, but I've seen as many as 8 pups.

If you have a lot of ground hogs in your area. I expect the female will have a den , with her young. I think the males will do a lot of moving from den to den.. I expect as you catch them , more will move in. Our area has been almost depleted, by the coyotes.old243

When the neighbours move in you know you have them all. The neighbours are the black and whites, and the smell will tell you when you have done it.

Got number four today and it was a male. Another one scraped the old hair off the back between the 160 bars. So only new hair showed. It was done from the hole side of the trap, So something from inside the den did this.
