Everything I see on a daily basis anymore makes me feel fortunate I still live in a place where I can raise my kids to hopefully become excellent adults in their future. Unfortunately, the more I see I believe this is a dying breed in America. I guess I'll just keep trying to instill in them what I was told as I was growing up. They still leave the house when they wake up, play hard, but when it's time to work they know they have responsibilities. So far they've been a breeze to raise and I credit a lot of that to letting them be children. Get dirty, make mistakes, and learn from them.

Twin needs fed twice a day and she can do it on her own if she needs to. Mother couldn't take them both on. Not bad for only turning eight this year.

At four years old he can turn even the rowdiest cows around in the pen. It appears he's happy enough just walking around the cow lot watching the frogs.

She's learned early that sometimes you have to say goodbye. She's got every calf on the lot named but at some point they all have to go to market.

You have to save time for something fun but even when the fun is over we've got to make use of what we catch.

WadeRyan,

Hold out as long as you can. Well done.
We were a nation founded on God, liberty, and the equality of humankind.
Much has changed, but the ideals of the founders of this nation are still noble.
Not as many place their family's trust and faith in these pursuits as much as gg- grandpa did, but I hope you're able to buck that trend.

Blessings!
Mark

Congratulations on doing a great job with your kids as Prc2 mentioned I'm working on my grandkids all 7 of them when I get the chance that is .
As much as my daughter's would hate having to tag along with me when they were young now they want to go check traps or snares or go hunting and how much fun it used to be .
I've worked a bunch of PBR events over the year's and even as much as those bull's act mean and wild some not all of them enjoy getting scratched behind the ears or attention in general it's funny to see .
Keep up the good work !
Allan

Good job, sir. Excellent values.

Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

So far it look like you are going a great job! IMO if there is anything I would do different is, DO NOT get them a smart phone or phone of any kind.

I always thought most kids should be raised in the City to learn about the bad things in life the move out to the country to learn about the good things in life when they hit about 14, then they might decide to stay in the country more when the grow up.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

She's getting to the point where she asks for one from time to time. I've explained to her that there's no need for one at this time. She only uses an Ipad to do school work and I'm holding out on not having a phone as long as I can. Unfortunately, most of the schooling etc. seems to be technology driven and as much as I don't want her to have a phone until she's at least 16 (and mobile) I don't know that it's realistic for her to not have one. For the time being if they are awake and it's not raining they are outside. Where they should be.

My daughter is 13 and has no phone. She has a laptop to do some school work on but no social media. Some say I am mean to not let her have a phone but she understands why I say she doesn't need one. If she goes some where everyone always compliments her for not being on her phone. They get a strange look on there face when she tells them she doesn't have one. I am very proud of her and how she is growing up. She can cut up a deer almost completely buy her self she can butterfly the back strap steaks. She will completely out of place when it comes time for college. But guess that's a bridge we will cross at that time.

You are a lucky man. Keeping them involved and being close to nature is as good as it gets. Keep up the great work.

in todays world kids can't be hidden from the tech stuff but they sure can be taught to control it and not let it control them.

Yep teach em right but please dont also shield them from todays tech stuff at all. NEVER cause them to become tech illiterates or they will get so far behind their peers and may lose out on tremendous opportunities later on...jobs, scholarships, and things that may really benefit society. Good values AND good tech knowledge are an awesome one-two punch for your kids as they grow up.

Wade, my kids are a little bit older than yours, my youngest graduated this spring. The oldest ones didn't get cellphones until they got their driver's license, the youngest got her's at 14, mostly because the situation at home changed and I felt it was necessary to be able to contact her easily.

One thing I didn't allow was video game.

Looks to me like your children will lead a full and loved life. Hopefully the generations of their fathers can leave it as good as the ones before for them. I"m a bit concerned.
