Does that keep your priming powder from getting damp Nessie or do you still change it out every so often?

I don't use a Cow's Knee. When still-hunting in rainy/snowy weather I keep the lock under my armpit. When sitting in damp conditions I'll keep the lock under the bottom edge of my coat.

I have trouble with 4F getting damp resulting in ignition failure. It happened to me twice last season. Both times I had a nice fat doe broadside and all I got was from the flinter was a nice shower of sparks.

I've been thinking about seeing if 3F will work as priming powder and be less susceptible to drawing moisture out of the air.

Eh...wot?

Yup, it's a cow's knee because it's shaped like a cow's knee (imagine that). I have a leather one like that but swapped it out for one made of oil cloth. The oil cloth is more waterproof and folds up smaller in my shooting pouch.

It keeps rain droplets from messing things up. And in damp conditions ...I put 2F in the pan....it absorbes the least amount of moisture...and still goes bang ! But if you don’t have 2F ....3 FFF is better than 4F in damp conditions.

Frigging beautiful!!! Got the same, almost. It's a mirror image of yours (your trigger is on the wrong side smile ). .45 cal. 42" Green Mountian barrel. Custom made by Bem Richards (Kentucky Corps of Long Riflemen). Tried to post a pic but my smart phone is only as smart as the user...

I got one of them plastic boxes that go over the action to keep the damp out of the powdah on rainey days. Couple of my buddies do have the cow knees though. They all work the same even used a latex gloves in a pinch before.

And here I thought, coming from Nessy, that was one half of the accessory needed to convert assless chaps to assed chaps.
My second guess was a pig castrator pocket protector to prevent the castrationist from being the castrated whilst walking down to the sty.
