Watching some of the excellent Memorial Day programs yesterday I found myself somewhat anoyed by all the commercials about the "covid heros". While I do respect the health care workers, and even the grocery store shelve stockers, somehow on memorial Day it seemed to cheapen the term hero considering what our military heros sacrificed.

This brings a tear to my eye!

Totally disrespectful in my mind.

I really hope that..NM Gov Michelle Lujan Grisham ….is getting some public grief over this

Memorial Day is set aside for honoring the nation’s fallen soldiers, sailors, and airmen. It’s not for honoring first responders, policemen, firemen etc. It’s not even for honoring all veterans who served...there’s another holiday for that. ( Veterans Day in November ). It’s a day to remember those who died in military service for the US. Pretty simple, in my mind.


Honoring Covid19 dead on Memorial Day ?......some politicians have no shame.

Media is silent the comments on fb page are both pro and con.

This lady spit on the graves of every solider who gave the sacrifice.

What do people do on memorial day down there?
In Canada we have remembrance day in november,For our fallen servicemen.It is a very solemn day.

Well I'm thinking for an awful lot its party time, but I'm not a mind reader so I don't know what they are thinking nor what's in the heart but by some actions its just another 3 day weekend.

I saw some excellent services on tv. And on the Arlington Cemetery and it included a part on the horses they use for pulling the caisson carrying fallen veterans' caskets. If I knew about them I had forgotten it. I saw a funeral and due to distancing they lay the flag down to be picked up by the receiver.

I have seen the White House, the Washington Monument, the Pentagon and the Old Supreme Court and that was 41 years ago but what really still stays with me is the vision in my mind of The Arlington Cemetery .

I usually visit a half dozen or so cemeteries but didn't this time.

The Gov. of New Mexico has no character, she is clumsy with her speech and power . Memorial Day is for those that we lost, she insulted us!

I agree. I'm glad she got busted buying non-essential jewelry from a store that was closed and deemed non-essential. I doubt anything will happen to her.
Hopefully her beauty parlor gets caught too.

I don't see why a reasonable person would object. She's honoring both Covid victims and fallen soldiers. What could be wrong with that?

It's a day set aside specifically for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. There's over 300 other days she could have honored the covid victims. Why she chose memorial day and memorial day weekend to do that is beyond me. Maybe she doesn't know the meaning of memorial day?
