Checked some beaver traps sunday. Traveled some 283 miles rounds trip on my beaver line. Came across one of my 330's with a leatherman between the trigger. Trap was still set. I think some kids found it and tried to fired it by tossing the leatherman at the trigger. And since it didn't go off, they figure it wasn't worth getting caught.
This is on private property with warning signs posted. People fish there and have been told not to mess with any traps they see. All i can say is thanks kids. The leatherman will come in handy. Sarge

daddy must a bought the leatherman or kid borrowed it
a resourceful kid with with 30 dollars sitting on your trigger would have found a stick or something to get it off.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Why not just find a stick, but the shoreline was void of sticks unless they walked about 60 yards to the treeline. But, i suppose it was one of those moments when the brain didn't completely kick in.

^^^ good a guess as any. I like it. Despite hating most people I have a tendency to believe MOST are just curious and not ill-intented.

Or, if it did kick in, the kid thought it was too far to walk and not worth the effort. Some kids now days!
The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never let the dumbest ones lead the pack.

Would have been pretty cool to get there and see one of them little devils flopping around in the trap though. No, that wouldn't have been cool at all. I can just imagine the lawsuits, AND the new anti trap laws that would cause. I got lucky one time, caught a kid on the arm in a 220. The lucky part was, dad knew exactly how stupid his kid was and blamed him and not me. Called me up and told me to come by to get my trap back!

I can just imagine the lawsuits, AND the new anti trap laws that would cause. I got lucky one time, caught a kid on the arm in a 220. The lucky part was, dad knew exactly how stupid his kid was and blamed him and not me. Called me up and told me to come by to get my trap back! Caught a kid about a month ago in belisle 280. He was tresspassing (fishing) and I had caught a turtle. Him and his friend somehow got the turtle out but not his fingers and the trap locked down. I came upon a trap destroyed and the two springs cut(hacksaw from the neighbor). So, I called the landowner and told him what I found and it he told me he knew the kids and their father. I felt bad about it, but, the landowner said it has nothing to do with you. They tresspassed and learned a valuable lesson and that they wouldn't mess with my traps again. They are allowed to fish but was told and learned as well not to mess with something that doesn't belong to you. Sarge
