Some do sleep on the ice, I don't. Getting there is no sweat. I stay warm, even able to have a hot meal. And manage to catch a few...

If you never have ice fished before, especially from the south, put it on your bucket list and git-r-done!

Let's go Brandon!

there are places that offer packages, to stay in their lakeside motel, and fish right outside the motel, supplying gear and all.

nearly did it 10 yrs ago, just Google "ice fishing packages" or "outfitters" or "guides".

On the big lakes near towns that are acessable by vehicles, some guys just drive their truck out onto the ice drill a hole drop the line, tie the line to the windshield wiper set on intermittent to jig the bait, then when you hear the wiper slap on the window-you got a fish on.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

You sometimes see what are called "tubers" for sale, they're vehicles with holes cut in the floor meant to be driven to your fishing spot, then you drop down a tube over the hole to keep out the cold air.

We just sit in the truck and roll down the window...and jig out of the hole ,drilled by the door. But each hole has a 2 beer limit....if no hits aftah 2 beers....we drive to anothah spot, and start all ovah again....This is a true Story !

Sarg ice fishing is big fun. (until you fall thru). You are welcome to ice fish Lake Erie any time you want. The Lake didn't freeze over this year but if ya have a boat I'll put you on the fish (walleye, the perch are gone).

It has always been on my bucket list. I'll look hard into this winter of 2021 or 2022 for sure. Already have a couple of big catfishing trips planned in South Carolina and Tenn, and a hog hunt in Florida for hogs. Sarge
