The incident in MN got me to thinking. How many times have you heard," I can't breathe" when making an arrest? What other statements are made in an attempt to be turned loose? How about excuses for breaking the law?

Police in Canada are well trained to be aware of circumstances that can lead to positional asphyxiation and excited delirium, circumstances often associated with drug induced psychosis. To describe it in the most basic manner, it's like the big pike that simply can't recover from an epic battle to avoid getting caught.

Why dont the cops do it like the old days - a quick tap to the jaw with the little leather blackjack to render instant unconciousness.Nobody was ever killed by being knocked out with a blackjack.
All this wrasseling around on the ground looks stupid and incompetent on the cops part.
I dont think there are many cops today that would have even passed muster back in the old days.

Because they took them away and said we couldn't use them any more where I worked, that was about 1985. Course the PR24 was starting to gain a foothold and being adopted by departments. That only lasted till about 1999, and the powers to be decided that mace was the answer, then the taser. The video is like any others thay put out, they don't show everything and there is a page 2, that no one will hear about.

No, But a sock full of twonies will work in a pinch. When I used to enjoy a little dust up,I would bring my shilelagh cane in and limp a bit then if some ructions started I would break it up.
When the cops arrived they would thank me for helping out.

BOCO,

Tapping those guys on the head has absolutely no effect.

You've got to take out a knee,

or knock the pins out from under them

with your Collapsible Titanium Baton !!

Not to mention that all the heathens know that the cameras are rolling and if they say they cant breathe and cameras catch it, its better for a law suit. Did this dude die because he couldn't breathe or was it from some underlying cause?

“I can’t think” may have worked better in this situation.

These police brutality incidents against blacks seemed to have got more frequent since Obama took office. "The police acted stupidly"........

On a bright note, the Mayor of Minneapolis came out and said the cop is guilty and should have been arrested, on the spot. We don't need no stinking investigation or due process! Just call them guilty and throw them in jail.

So for all you LEO's out there.
What's the sense in kneeling on the back of someones neck after you got him/her cuffed?

There really is none. The cop was poorly trained. His fellow officers should've also been alert enough to let him know. Its a systematic failure more than a "rogue" cop.

I might be going out on a limb here, but if you have a cops knee on your neck you probably did something to deserve it. Time to man up and take your medicine.
