It's pretty much just a small bench with a rounded 4x4 coming out of the center. I was previously breaking pelts by pulling them across the top edge of a door. I'm hoping this is a little more ergonomically friendly.

Yes, Boykin spaniel.

And yes Boco, I've only trapped for a couple years but have kept everything I've caught and tan it out. I think there's more money to be made if you sell crafts. But I only catch around 50 things a year currently so I would t make much selling to a fur buyer to begin with.

When I started trapping I tanned all the stuff I caught and made stuff, never even knew you could sell raw fur for money when I started.
Still do a bit of tanning cause its enjoyable and satisfying to make stuff out of pelts you catch and process yourself.

I like water trapping. But all the water critters around here are worth even less since we don't get cold hard winters. I just can't justify selling a beaver for $8 after putting out the trap, checking the trap, skinning and fleshing, boarding etc. So that's a big player in why I tan my stuff. Increases the value 5x for a little work on my end and little to no expense

I've had a couple of American Water Spaniels, Kinda like a boykin without the frills!
