Yep, you use your leg to press weight on the handle and to hold it in place so that you can use both hands to run the flat B___ file. I also run the file flat on the other side just to trim off any burs from having hit rocks. I file at least twice a day. I used to be able to buy nice hoes that were made from recycled sawmill blades. The average garden hoe from a home depot etc are worthless.

My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

No point in it. They'll just get uppity on you.

Worked for an electrician and plumber who was a perfectionist
Sharpened and oiled spades and protected edge with leather every time we used them
Seemed like a pain in the butt at the time
When using them, what a difference between his and rusty, cracked old ones with a rolled over edge.

A belt sander is a quick and dirty way to sharpen digging tools.

was out doing some weeding after work

I sharpened with the Worksharp , I use the blade grinder attachment with the 1x18 belts for knives so I have unused 3/4x12 belts , with the guard removed it makes a good belt grinder for the hoe they don't need to be shaving sharp , just slide past a weed and it slices off sharp.

this one cam nice and sharp , I picked it up about 10 years ago when the wife and I visited Seed Savers exchange in Decorah IA.

it has a nice long handle it stands about an inch taller than my shoulder , that seems to be a good height for it

this one cuts on the push and pull for weeding not hilling

not sure why everyone seems to feel the need to varnish tool handles , I sand it off and oil the handles.much smother in the hand to be oiled then a light sand and oil and they stay nice a lot of years

45 dollars 10 years ago seems like a lot for a hoe but it is really only $4.50 a year for 10 years with a lot less cussing and sore back and certainly not used up yet then again I hoe maybe 20 minute a week not 40 hours a week.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I might have to give this a try once I get all the rocks out of our garden. When that is done I will have to import about a dump truck load of top soil to bring the garden back up to ground level lol. I took over 10 5 gallon buckets of rocks out thus far. That was only about a third of it and this is the first year. I could spend ten minutes in it with a sharpened hoe and it would be just as dull as when I bought it!

Time is more precious than gold if you know how to spend it
