I went to the CDC website this morning.

The average death rate for the annual flu/pneumonia is 14 per 100,000 or 0.014%. For covid thus far it has been 10 per 100,000 or 0.010% These are just Wisconsin numbers. Some other state's numbers are radically different.

I was one of those in the begining that called for drastic measures. Looking at the numbers (and good chance the covid numbers are baked) it appears we did a good job and we are handling this well and it was a good decision to open back up.

I’ve been looking at the numbers for Minnesota and as of the other day, the recovery rate here is above 75%. The death toll is over 1,000 and in round numbers we’ve got 26,000 laboratory confirmed cases. This puts our death rate (dead divided by total lab confirmed cases) at about 3.9%. These numbers are going to be off because of daily reporting—you all know the situation.

The numbers vary around the country and some confounding factors include # of people in assisted living complexes (immunocompromised), the numbers of outside contacts bringing it in (asymptomatic carriers), the political persuasions of the area (have people been taking this threat seriously in low number states?), social distancing (or lack of it due to youth thinking it won’t get them—and partying). Comparing prevalence per 1,000 or 100,000 population gives researchers a way to do comparisons. Understanding confounding data is important. But to you and I, prevalence rates do little to tell us it’s time to go back to work.

Case in point: Quality Pork, which is the slaughter side of Hormel in Austin, Minnesota has seen a significant spike in cases. The numbers there alone pushed the Mower Co numbers up 10 times in just a couple of days. What had been a low number county (~37 cases) bounced, big time to over 300 cases, because of close contact at Quality Pork. QP is in the same building as Hormel. How long do you think it’ll be before Hormel has significant numbers?

Yr death rate is dead/number of residents of state. Gotta quit using libtard math.

Teacher , tell the Minn. Governor to quit putting positive Corona cases in nursing homes, maybe that will slow it down.

No need for name calling.

The death rate that I posted is death rate per capita. Teacher posted the death rate per positive test.

Teacher- think you could find the death rate per positive hospitalized flu? Would be interesting to compare them.

Apparently, our Governor isn't too concerned about the virus. He spent two hours today in a church full of people sitting elbow to elbow. Not to mention the fact that the immediate family at said funeral had very recent contact with the deceased who tested positive for Covid 19 on the autopsy report. confused. But, let's keep the rest of the businesses and churches under lockdown, because the rules only apply to law abiding folks.

It's always fun to fudge figures..a very large percentage of the the people who test positive for the corona virus have no symptoms. If you die in a nursing home asymtomatic and test positive for the virus after you die..You died of the corona virus.

I wonder if Waltz will self quarantine again. He did the last time he was exposed.

Help yourself.

I left a message for the Gov. about that very thing, being he came out with new funeral rules on the 27 of May. Social distancing, 25%occupancy rate, no more than 250 people in one building. He along with all the other attendees broke all three, he should be fined with all the others. Do as I say not as I do.

Rat sounds like our Gov in Illinois....wife goes to Florida after he locks the state down?
Guys what percentage of Hispanics work in those meat packing plants? Our schools are regularly hit with
Whooping cough, chicken pox etc you know the stuff we had under control for years due to illegals not getting immunized...wondering if that is similar to this scenario. Just thinking out loud....
