Whats the point of this catch and release thing ?? I thought it was just a thing for fishing. Do they weight the protesters as well and the officer who has the most arrests in weight wins a prize ?? or whats the point of the exercise ??

Sounds like a good idea. They should hold them up by the bottom lip for about 30 sec for a picture first.

I was at a soccer riot in Manchester back in 1977.The cops came en masse with paddywagons .When they opened the back doors,they turned loose about 50 german sheperds to break up the massive fight.
Cops should have loosed the savage dogs on the bridge people.

This is probably all a part of the plan.
Evidently they did not arrest anyone but just detained them. I believe, and I could be wrong, that if they had been arrested the police chief and city manager could not have released them and decided to not charge them. Once arrested they have to go before a judge or magistrate within 48 hours and that official can then decide to charge or release them.

Stupid move by the mayor, she missed a major opportunity to enrich the city coffers. Instead she spent a bunch of money on the arrest process and didn't recoup a cent.

Like they would have paid....
