I am possibility getting some and I want to know if they work. If they do my next question is do you have to use the stands for connicears like you see in the catalogs or can you redneck it up to where I ain’t got to spend a lot of money

So you must be talking about 110s and 150s sized traps. And you can rube Goldberg some time of stabilizer.

Those are great muskrat traps, as are 210s, but need supported one way or the other. Whether it is a butterfly bracket or a Sullivan stabilizer or a sudden valley support On a 3/8 inch fiberglass rod from tractor supply. All can be homemade with a minimal handyman skills.

id add a hagz clip to each trap. theyre made for the 3/8th rods, and arent in the way of anything if you need to stabilize the trap in a different way for some reason. just a bit over a buck apiece, so the cost wont hurt you. theyll never come off the trap and get lost, and are never in the way, but theyre always there when you need them.

They work fine for muskrats underwater. I'd quit with that though.

All you need is a square stake that fits kinda snug.

I have a modest amount of experience with conibear 110s on marten, mink and muskrats, and it was underwhelming. Frequently the animals were caught but able to struggle a while, the traps were harder to secure solidly in the set, and there was no margin for a less-than-perfect firing. I modified a few with a second spring, mimicking a 120, with not great results. Eventually, we coughed up the $ and switched to Belilse 120s. When those go off it's like flipping the off switch. Instantaneous death. Our only living catch in a Belilse 120 was a large Tom lynx that climbed a pole set and stuck his arm through a set to get at some bait. For our area, I wouldn't use 110s if they were free.

I wish they made a deep water H stand for them like they do for the 110

I wouldn't use them unless I put the second spring on them.

I used to use sticks to stabilize #110s for muskrats.

Watch out for pets if you're trying to bodygrip 'coon on dry land.

For 160’s?

For coon I'd lean towards 160s or 220s, whatever is legal in your state
Here is a 160 and the coon still had the trap in the stabilizer...

I agree with those who said single springs are an in the water trap. 160s are great on mink and rats in that situation. Above water use two springs for better results.

Sideways trap on a square stake works with one spring or two. Friction holds the trap wherever you want it.

I also use single spring body grips 110's on rats and mink, under water. I really like them a lot for those targets.
