A good recipe they use to get bacon ready for smoking? Dry rub, wet brine soaked, cold smoked,or hot smoked?

Honey maple syrup tender quick and garlic.
Rub it down put it in a Ziploc bag and leave it for seven days
Smoke at 165 until it gets to 125 with hickory

Does the garlic taste come through much? Guess I'm part vampire and don't care for a lot of garlic taste.
