I think it makes sense to get a test. I had Lymes but only had fatigue.
A Lymes test would only test for Lymes but if conditions persist they will start testing for all kinds of things.
Good luck.

My MD sent my test away for Lymes, took a while to get results, they also checked for leptospirosis. The initial diagnosis was PMR. And a rheumatologist confirmed it. Extremely painful tendons around the neck, shoulders and upper legs.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Mn. is on top of it. Spent a week there and they got me back. I had Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis and was on my way out. Joints were locked up like severe rheumatoid arthritis and passing out from a messed up heart stroke which it also causes. They hit me with everything they had and biopsied me for Giant cell arteritis because it will make you go blind before they can diagnose it. They are hard to get into with appointments, but if your sick enough you just sit in the waiting room and they will get you in. I did that. I was lucky and didn't lose my memory and I got my joints back. If you think you have it don't wait because it can and will trash you beyond recovery. Good Luck

Mayo is an awesome place to be when your down.
They don't take your clothes away from you, and if your not a pass out risk you can get dressed and go everywhere even out side. I had the freezing sweats and the nurses kept bringing me piles of heated blankets. Can't say enough good about them. Another symptom is having the pain move from joint to joint around your whole body. Like being possessed by demons. from feet, knees, hips, shoulders, elbows, hands around and around. Sense of taste screwed up & everything tastes rotten. I hadn't ate for two weeks.

(By the way there is no such things as lymes disease, it's called Lyme Disease. If you spell it correctly when searching or whatever you'll get a lot better info.)
Correct. Unfortunately a 'gift' from my state. Discovered in Lyme , Connecticut. People got upset over the term ' Wuhan virus or Chinese virus ' well , sorry , that's where it came from. Just the same reason Lyme disease was named , point of origin. Helped a young friend of mine remove a tick from his lower leg the other day. His first incident with a tick. He really freaked out a bit. Got it out intact , he consulted a doctor who advised to monitor for symptoms and seek medical help if needed.

Jacks symptoms of Lyme Disease is extensive. The longer you wait the worse it gets and is harder to diagnose. As others have mentioned the 2 tests give a false negative roughly 75% of the time and that is within the 2 weeks of a tick bite.
For those that went to Mayo what did they give you to treat the Lyme? Whatever you do, don't let them give you Cipro to treat Lyme Disease. My symptoms were bi-lateral severe pain and swelling in the legs, hips, hands, and severe fatigue,as well as sudden onset of arthritis all around. had three false negatives before they had a positive test.

Why no Cipro? Ouch that sounds terrible. My drs want me to go to Mayo but dealing with insurance has been a nightmare. Then add the travel restrictions with covid.

dkrug Did you get treated with prednisone? Not sure on that, but they said they hit me with everything because I was close to dying and they weren't sure what all I had because I let it ride too long. The Di-oxy was part of it. I think I read on here that Zim's Patrice had it and found a doctor for long term treatment, instead of a quick fix. It's not like the flu where in 3 days it's over. It's in your cells and re-occurs. That's why I stay out of discussions about disability with good days and bad days. Until you have been there you have no idea. Same as siezures

LOTS of quack lyme disease specialists out there. Usually run a "Lyme clinic". CDC will tell you about everything you need to know about lyme disease and its treatment. There are no "special" treatments. Those that are are quackery. Placebo makes almost everyone feel better, for awhile. That being said, early treatment is key. Most people that feel like they have lyme disease after being treated have post-lyme disease syndrome, which can be awful and last for the rest of your life. Thise are the ones usually ssuckered into a special "Lyme clinic" and treated with many doses of antibiotics amongst other things. Man, I hate a quack, can't you tell? There used to be a vaccine out for lyme dz. I don't know what happened, but they took it off the market years ago. A good lyme vaccine would be worth a billion bucks today. Amen on the vaccine!!
