I have seen these things advertised. Does anyone have experience with them? Are they just a novelty or do people actually use them for beef?

People are claiming that miniature cattle are healthier because the portion size of the cuts is smaller. There is a farm 6/10ths of a mile down the road that raises miniature Herefords. Amy, the owner, uses the beef in her catering business. She had a bull running lose, that she couldn't catch, for over a year. At least some of them spook easy.

My friend Dwight raises miniature Zebu. Most are sold as pet cattle. The cows are only 300 some pounds. They are about twice as heavy, but have a similar frame to a full size goat. They have a lot of health issues.

Dwight ended up with a midget shorthorn milker heffer, that came out of some very old frozen semen. He sold her for a great deal of money.

I have no desire to have any miniature cattle.

Keith
