Philadelphia Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution Desecrated

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution was reported desecrated on Friday, as attacks on monuments continued nationwide in association with Black Lives Matter protests.
The National Park Service reported on Friday that the monument, which features a statue of George Washington, had been defaced with graffiti, which read “Committed Genocide.”

It added:
The National Park Service is working to remove this graffiti on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the American Revolution (at Washington Square) safely. We appreciate the offers to help that we’ve received, and we ask your patience while professional conservators continue this delicate task. Thank you for your encouragement and support.
The Problem: The wall of the monument is a very soft and porous limestone that’s susceptible to pitting and discoloration. To clean this stone without damaging it, we’ve tried non-abrasive steam cleaning and a gentle solvent. But, some paint on the wall remains.
The Solution: A professional stone conservator is now addressing this graffiti. The treatment saturates the painted stone with a mild solvent held in place by poultices (soft masses). After about two weeks, the stone’s appearance should improve.
The monument was erected in 1954 and stands atop ground that was used for paupers’ graves, as well as for soldiers who died during the American Revolution.

Engravings on the monument include phrases such as: “Freedom is a light for which many men have died in darkness.”
President Donald Trump warned in 2017 that he did not support the removal of Confederate statues because it would not stop there: “So this week, it’s Robert E. Lee, I noticed that Stonewall Jackson’s coming down. I wonder, is it George Washington next week? And is it Thomas Jefferson the week after. You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?”

Whomever is responsible for this attack should have to be responsible for the clean up and if nothing else pay restitution or sit in jail or both .

Or better yet have to host question and answer sessions for tours at this sight for a month or face a jail sentence and do this is period attire.

There are a bunch of people that need a good thumping. I'm getting tired of this pussyfooting around. This is probably the worst Anti-American crime you could do. It's worse than tearing down a statue and worse than burning a flag. If I ever caught anyone in the act of doing something like this, I do not know if I could control myself.

The heads are huge hard to imagine, the walk would be tough even If a guy was in great shape and SD is not very PC So it would not be in their best interest to try it but we do like a little sport here. LOL

In a thread a couple days ago someone was saying he didn't care if confederate statues were taken down, or defaced...I told him then, that they were coming for the U.S.A. next.

Since the founders of the country were associated with slavery, nothing will do except dissolving the U.S.A.

Those in the North who think grattitude is their attitude concerning the civil war are disillusioned.

Is there any cameras on site? Authorities should what they can to arrest these criminals. If found guilty sentence them to at least 200 hrs of community service. In this case that’s picking up garbage on the roadside. Irony is that it was probably left by them.

If the news got wind of a black person doing community service they would jump on the story twisting it into an act of modern slavery.

Guards of the tomb must have been asleep at the wheel it is guarded 24 hours a day 365 days a year not sure I believe it.

In the last few weeks, there has been hundreds of military gravestones defaced and smashed, including even recently departed US soldiers and numerous police gravestones too. I have seen a sickening amount of black lives matter, vandalism against the dead on Facebook.

You are thinking of the tomb of the unknown solider in DC. This is in Philly, PA. It's unknown soldiers of the revolutionary war.

I saw where a dozen or so good'ol boys held off over a hundred rioters at a statue of C.Columbus in South Filthy.
