Not muskrat, rat rat lol. What's the best kill trap today, is Victor still the king?

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

The one with the plastic yellow pan. Its more sensitive than the metal pans. At least in mouse traps. I think i have a couple of the all plastic victor rat traps and they worked well. They have a big pan for them to stand on to get to the food hole. Peanut butter works best for me.

I always tied rat traps down, whether in an attic, crawlspace, or against a wall. Roof rats were the most common rats caught. Bait was almost always peanut butter and sunflower seeds.

Put grain or pellets for bait in rear, peanut butter on pan
Caught 28 rats in a few days around the grain bins

I tried that on packrats here with about 50 boxes. Didn't work too well. Took the lid and on end off and worked better. What works best for me if I really want to catch a bucket or two full of rats is my bridger #3 four coil set with a light pan. A little ground duff over trap and grain on the pan.

I trick out all my rat-rat traps. Piano wire springs, hickory base boards, jeweled trigger, the works. Tuned up to 3 ounces on pan tension. Make my own secret bait and lure. Hit me with a pm if ya want to buy my book. “Real Rats By the Pound”. $7.95

Take a sliver of raw bacon, chewier the better. Wrap around pan. Take an even thinner sliver of duct tape and wrap the bacon. Just one of the hot tips!

I been having problems with the victor traps with the yellow pans. The staples that hold down the springs, keeps coming out!

I think I got a bad batch. To me, the wood they used was soft, like balsa wood. I might try and put some super glue on the wood to tighten up the grain. Or change the wood. I bought two or three packs from Lowe’s. Maybe 1/4 of them gave me trouble.

I have always had that problem with them so what I do is drill a couple holes where the staples were and run a loop of wire through them
