I somewhat agree, but you are forgetting about taking officers weapon (taser with projectile) and pointing it at him and discharged it as he was running. That is what got him killed. Many not understand that a taser may be non lethal in the hands of officers, but if it is taken from an officer, that is a deadly threat. There is something called use of force and levels of force. A cop doesn't use a taser against a suspect with a taser. If someone steals a police car, they can't just say we will pick him up later. That is a serious threat to the public. It all changed when he took the officers taser. Ding..ding...again! You are on a roll! Correct observation.

A man is dead because he resisted on what would have been a DWI charge stupid of him. A man is dead because a cop shot him over a DWI charge stupid of him. They had his name and his car they could have picked him up when he came to get his car out of impound and then they could have added assault of a police officer. They both did not think and ruined 2 lives because of it. No I am not a cop hater or a democrat. My feelings are that from now on, if someone is stopped for a DWI (driving while impaired) he/she should be allowed to go as they please. If the said assailant commits a crime after the recorded offense, then he/she can be charged for each offense (starting with the original), AND the original officer is exempt from ALL negligent charges enacted therein. Eff it! Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight ! just let them go on down the road and kill some innocent folks in a head-on collision ! I am glad I am not a LEO. I have not the patience nor temperament for it. I have zero tolerance for drunks and that probably wouldn't end well for anyone !

They said on the news now that the cop will face the death penalty.
A cop in prison is likely a death sentence anyway.

Did you even watch the video? What could they have done? Say pretty please, you're under arrest? I watched the video. They had him. Then they got a real arse whooping, he took one fellas Non-lethal weapon and escaped. Those were three mistakes. Two against one, shouldn't have happened, but it did. Kind of embarrassing.

Since this calmed down a bit, just so you know, I dont think the cop is guilty of a crime. I have no doubt he acted in accordance with GA law and also his training.
That does not mean my opinion changed. That man didnt need to die. I believe he was killed out of anger. There are times when cops need to back down. Not every arrest is worth escalating. The hippies used to call that a "power trip".

Training is not law. The guy broke the law by drinking and driving, a normal person would have just let them cuff them and deal with it. He resisted and fought them, then stole a taser and booked it. Then he turned and fired a taser that the cops knew he had. They knew it was a taser and the cop choose to shoot him in the back. Danny, unlike Finster, I agree, that pos didn't need killing. He was a pos, but controlling adrenaline and proper threat assessment are not only lacking but tantamount to proper law enforcement. I love cops that are good cops, I wish and pray they get this figured out.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....
