Bus removalNow we have to Childproof the great outdoors.
Some individuals use statistics as a drunk man uses lamp-posts — for support rather than for illumination.

[color:#33CC00]The Alaska Army National Guard moved the bus as part of a training mission "at no cost to the public or additional cost to the state," Feige said. [/color] Who else funds The Alaska Army National Guard?

I'm glad it's gone. It had become a shrine, when it should have been a monument to stupidity. It attracted visitors with little skill and judgement. Too many times Healy area people, (locals), had to rescue pilgrims to that shrine. Several died out there. I checked it out the winter after Chris McCandless' body was recovered. Before it got famous. It was not much of a shelter, just a roof. Cold in winter, buggy in summer. Too bad that chinook didn't fly south with it and drop it in the gulf of Alaska. Could have dropped it in the backyard of a famous Anchorage, Alaska lawyer! Chris

Why drop that crap in the ocean to mess things up..LOL Scrap it get few bucks even that won't come close to cost of fuel for the chopper..And your right seems like everything is a shrine now days. Don't need any more them. Mac

I remember reading the book, not being able to identify the seeds he consumed was the coup des gras.
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

I remember reading the book, not being able to identify the seeds he consumed was the coup des gras. I always like a good coup of de gras when I eat foie gras I prefer the sedan de gras myself but to each their own.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

It should have been cut up into little pieces and sold off for an exorbitant amount of money to the tree huggers-proceeds to go to the Alaska Trappers Association for trapline re-habilitation(garbage cleanup).

Nah, I hope it disappears completely. 1 less shrine to draw inept pilgrims to the state. I'm not against visitors, but people who enshrine idiots are just greater idiots. The book and movie are about a guy who went into the Bush unprepared and died for it. So what do his fans do? Go into the Bush unprepared, and die or get rescued. That bus has been a blight ever since some dreamie yuppies made it famous.
