Love this, I'm hoping that the materials were local. Can't express how much making things out of local products makes me warm inside!

Your selling white oak logs that are used for barrel staves? Would those be for whiskey barrels? My ancestor that was the first to come from Ireland was a cooper!

Bigfoot You will be patting yourself on the back for as long as you live there for doing your summer time project We had a deck for about 14 years before we put a roof over it . I only wish it had not taken so long to see all the benefits. Much more comfortable under the deck and in the house in the summer . Less weather related issues summer/winter And adds to appearance and value of home .Looks like a job well done NOW ENJOY

Must be a shortage of good oak to us for barrels. I remember garden stores selling wooden whisky barrel halves for planters. They were charred on the inside. Oak is a slow growing tree I believe. How old is the tree when it's large enough to cut for staves?
Property with mature white oak must be pretty spendy as well?
