Hey guys, a customer of mine is selling his AR 180 with a original magazine.
What is this rifle realistically worth? I know that the regular AR 15 mags Don’t fit
These original Armalite Rifles.

a piece like that might be better at auction.

see 180 pre bans on gun broker for 2400 but being a Armalite may make it worth more yet.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Quick lookup says they made a few from 1969-1972,some had a lot of hand fitting, because Armalite wasn't really set up for civilian mass production.

It was Eugene Stoner's second design after he had sold the original AR10/AR15 design and patents. He couldn't use his previous design concepts so he designed this on around the simpler stamped sheet technology for markets that lacked the more high tech forge and mill technology. It did not receive any military contracts and wasn't a market success. Though it was adopted by the IRA in northern Ireland where it became known as the widow maker or black widow.
However the core design elements of the bolt/dual recoil rods lives on today in many other successful designs such as the ACR and G31.

BTW, Brownells has recently resurrected the design adapted to use AR15 parts.

Edited to add that the brownell's version is in the form of an upper that will fit any milspec ar lower.

I owned one, back in the early '70's.Pretty cool rifle.I really liked the folding stock.I thought I remembered using AR15 magazines, though.Wish I still had it.They claimed it was more reliable in rough conditions than the early AR/M16's.Mine was fairly accurate for a stock rifle.

It went through three maybe four iterations as the design was moved to various makers. Armalite in the US, Sterling in the UK, Howa in Japan. The final US version was the 180B made by a successor company that had bought out the Armalite name.
The B took AR/stanag mags.
