I bought a S&W 317 last year for my trapping & working around the farm gun. Super lt wt and do not use a holster. Just keep it in pocket of my Carhartt. Bought a revolver since If I fall in the water or in the mud,I can just spray it down and good to go. Pricey but its my beater. Thought about the heritage but just as many bad stories as good.

I got a 22lr single six back in 1984 with the mag cylinder extra with it . I see no need to get another one , For me do not care much for the 22lr handguns that is out today . Hope it works for how the new ones that is being bought.

Shot 50 rounds through it so far of 22lr. 2" group at 20 yards is fine with me and hitting 4" and 8" plates at 50 yards. All I need it for is trapping but obviously gonna be using it for plinking as well. So far I'm happy.

Those Heritage's are nice little trapline guns. I just can't get into the revolvers. Ruger SR22 has been my go to for quite a few years now. Hard to beat it.

I’m about to purchase the stainless camper version of the Browning Buckmark. Glad you like it. Been using an H&R 930 snub that was my grandfather’s but I think I’m going to retire it.

I've always had my heart set for a Ruger MarkIV any thoughts?

Wild Idaho, you got a good deal on that rough rider, I think I paid $100 for mine and had to pay an extra $35 or so (plus wait 2 months) for my 22wmr cylinder. Picked up the wrangler as soon as I could find one somewhat close to me in the burnt bronze and the buckmark was a gift from my uncle.

Got one years ago and love it, does the job that is asked of it to do. Great for what I use it for and never had any issues.

That's what I was thinking about my 317. But when I came to grips that it was a tool a scratch is no big deal.

When I'm on the trap line, I use the AR15 223 for my varmint gun in case I see something on the trail, and if I need a moose for winter meat, I just throw my 30-40 1885 High Wall Trapper Model in a saddle scabbard, and strap it to the SkiDoo. I also have a .410 870 strapped to the other side of the SkiDoo for ptarmigan and rabbits. Can't carry just one gun up here in Alaska, at least I don't. When it's boating season, I always have a shotgun and a bigger rifle on board, usually my 10 gauge BPS and 45/70 1895 Marlin. If I'm really hunting moose or bear, I put the 9.3×62 CZ in the boat, longer ranged than the 45/70. But the two pistols go everywhere with me all year.

I too have same pistol as you. I am going to buy the one with adjustable sights before season.

RR probably as heavy as your rifle, slow loading, and only 6 rounds = poor choice for me on my trapline. I hated the one I had and couldn't wait to sell it and get a good trapline revolver. Fold out cylinder, 9 rounds, light weight!
