I been looking at them on northern tool website. One is a klutch mig 140i flux core on sale now 279.00 regular 300.00. 120v gas or gasless gauge to run gas and hose. 3 yr warranty metal drive parts. For 50.00 extra u can get a 2 yr warranty that kicks in after the 3 yrs goes out. For a total of 5 yrs. Leads r only 6.5 ft long 140 amp output. The other is the Klutch MP 140SI sale price 409.00 regular 424.00 120v it comes with gauge for gas or u can use gasless. Come with lead for stick welding and comes with lead for tig welding. Leads r 10ft long. All metal drive same warranty has screen readout display. Other model dont have it. I dont think I would ever use stick or tig leads. But nice to have them anyway. I like the screen display on this model other model doesn't have it. Just has the 2 knobs for volts other wire speed . Both welders can use #2 or 10 pd spools. Both models r the inventor models .Can some of the full time welders look up these 2 models tell me the better of the 2
Klutch 140I flux core and Klutch MP (multi purpose) 140SI both 120v . Going to weld but mostly spot weld on 1/4 inch cold smooth rod to build live traps. And to laminate and base plate some traps. Thanks

I've no experience with either machine, but I would recommend the Hobart 140 at tractor supply for $499 for a machine in that price range for your needs. I know this is not the machine you asked about but I've had very good service with Hobart welders and customer service in the past. My 2 cents.

One thing to keep in mind. Several of the imports that are cheap is they become obsolete in short order. This means when you need parts they are unavailable and your investment is nothing more then a door stop at best.

Northern Tool is pretty established, so I’m not sure they’re going anywhere. But there is something to be said for having a machine that if you run out of tips on Sunday in the middle of a project, you can run to TSC and be back up and finishing what needs done instead of ordering parts.

Buy a brand name welder like your local welding supply sells. TSC works too.
