What's a splake again, a cross between a lake trout and and a rainbow...?

Thats a beauty-splake is a manmade cross between a speckled and a lake. There are splake here some guys are crazy about trout fishing,I never got the bug. A buddy of mine makes the trek into the Temagami area where a few remote lakes are home to the aurora trout-another trout with amazing colours. The aurora is a natural variation of the brook.

I always thought the splake was a brook/lake cross, very cool fish, be fun to paint on a reproduction or carving.
