Why does the left think a noose is a symbol of racism? Bet if there were records kept just as many or more white cowboys, horse thieves , deserters , rustlers have been hanged than black slaves !! Plus what slave owner would hang someone that was doing their work for them unless they had done something bad?? Sorry don't see how a noose is soley for black people...........

Coincidently, I just happened to need one this past weekend. I needed a loop knot that would stay taut under load.

The (hangman's) noose was perfect, but, I needed to get on the internet to remind me how to tie one.

It can be tied with pretty much any number of loops. Mine only required the minimum. Thirteen is supposedly the correct number for hanging, but evidently eight is more effective.

The instructions on the internet provided legal warnings about displaying it, as well as contact information for suicide hotlines and such for those who might want to harm themselves or others.

It's a thought crime, also known as a hate crime.

A noose is or can be a deadly weapon. To brandish a noose can be as intimidating as brandishing a hand gun.

I was in a physics class back around 1970. One of the students tied a hangman's noose in one of the window shade cords. The instructor came in, saw it, and completely freaked out. At the time I thought it was just a joke, and a huge over-reaction. After thinking about it....It really could be considered a death threat. NOT FUNNY

The "knot" was developed and used in "scientific" hanging because when the large stack of loops was positioned correctly alongside the head and the person was dropped through the door the stack would snap the head to the side while simultaneously the loop would jerk a vertebrae from the neck in the opposite direction resulting in a broken neck more times than not. It was a very fast and efficient way of execution unlike lynch style hanging where the person is just hoisted off the ground with the rope around thier neck or kicked off a short platform and left to struggle and choke until they expire. I envision "strangle" hanging to be one of the worst ways in this world to die ranks right up there with the brazen bull. And to Jbyrd63 they don't call nooses racist because of black slaves being hanged. They call it racist because of all the free black people that were hung in the years following the Civil War and all the way up past the Civil rights movement. There have been countless free black people left hanging by organizations like the KKK "which was founded by democrats" and other white power organizations. But that is no longer the case in our country because if it were it would be the only thing you would ever get to see on television for the rest of your life.

Good grief, how can someone be so ignorant of the hangings and other terror tactics used by bigoted whites against black people? Not during slavery only, but up until the 1960s, when the feds under JFK began prosecuting the terrorists.

If you grew up hearing stories about family and community members getting lynched by the KKK, you would likely not be a fan. Doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

Exactly antigov. Just like a knife or gun meat is meat and they don't discriminate. Also I'd like to point out that in the early days of the KKK they were just as likely to lynch a deadbeat white husband or a popular republican as they were a person of color.
