Rich environment this morning. Caught 28 with the biggest at 1.92. Was good to get away from all the crazy stuff going on. [Linked Image]

Was spider rigging. You can see the poles out the front of boat on one side (4). Had same amount out front on other side. Bite was going with the wind at .4- .5 mph. Can see it on top right of screen. Minnows double rigged.

White do you think that with the invent of the live scopes it will have a detrimental impact on especially crappie long term? I know lots of guys who couldn’t catch a cold in February have gotten the live scopes and are hammering the crappie now. I don’t know if will have as big an impact on other types of fish but it seems to me that because of their feeding habits and tendency to stay schooled the crappie populations may be in jeopardy.

Is that a live scope unit?

I think it has the potential with out a dought to have a detrimental impact on any game fish. With a little practice and time you can target an individual fish by size or species. Crappie tournament guys are using these units to target crappie by size. You can tune it to see the profile of the fish to determine species. Tournament guys wouldn't be so much of a problem,as you can only weigh in 7 live fish. Big impoundments l don't think would be affected as bad as smaller lakes. The live scope has definitely changed tournament crappie fishing and was talked about being outlawed in them. They found out it was not good business for tournaments to outlaw sponsors.

Yes headache. That is a screen with live scope plumbed to it. The live scope it's self is a special transducer that mounts to your trolling moter or "other " places on your boat.

Time will tell what impacts it has on individual fisheries. I would like to see the dept of wildlife be more proactive instead of reactive when dealing with issues such as this. You mentioned the size of the lake making a difference on the impact, I would like to do away with state wide bag limits and have bag limits based on individual water bodies.

As far as crappie go, they like to have sex and can over populate a lake of any size in a hurry. The cat fisherman have now got on to them and putting the smack down on em. The days of fishing ( where they ain't) is out the window if you know how to use a live scope. Course you still got to make em bite.

If you look at the screen in picture , you can see the grid pattern which I had set at 5 foot ( forward distance) and 2 foot ( depth distance) You can adjust that grid down or up to any size you want to make it. Then put the fish inside that box and figure out pretty accurately how big it is. I'm not tournament fishing this year as it got to be like a job and not relaxing. Just fun fishing this year to put some in the freezer and chill out. The live scope is just what the name states. It's real time, see where you're bait is versus where the fish is, video game. You can see fish eat your bait and never have a clue you even had a bite, while using even the most sensitive rod and line.
