three days after surgery , I started to get a rash, by surgery hole's now I have it all over my stomach, and it starting on my back an arm pits , they don't no what's going on , they put me on steroids two days ago but it's not helping , have any of you guys that had hernia mesh surgery , had anything like this ,I'm wondering if I'm allergic to the mesh?

Your allergic to something, either a med they given you or the mesh, maybe something else as well that was in the area that may have entered when they had you open !

My daughter was allergic to the tape they used instead of stiches.
And she is allergic to the antibiotic cream they use sometimes

Not a hernia but had operation on my arm after getting crushed. Developed allergic reaction to the screws and wires put in. Started out as a rash but soon turned into pus pockets. On medicine for a while for it to heal then had to go back in and remove hardware.

I agree with the medicine thing. I found out quickly that I can't take Excedrin. I had a rash in no time from that. What are you taking for pain?

My wife is also allergic to latex bandages.

My daughter was allergic to the material the internal sutures were made from. Instead of the body absorbing them, they got infected and eventually all of them worked their way to the surface. Took her back to the Dr and he picked out the first ones and was not very gentle about it. Dr Daddy did the rest of them at home.

Call the doctors office on the paperwork they sent home with you. They should have an answering service relay to the doctor to have someone get back to you. They will probably tell you to go to emergency room.
If it is getting worst, you don’t want to suffer until Monday without some trained eyes giving it a look.

I am two weeks out since my hernia operation. They did use the mesh. My tapes have just come off. Things are going well for me. You may have a latex or medicine reaction happening.

I had a large hernia repair in February. I have had a severe infection following a knee replacement. Pray that you have an allergy and not an infection. keep us updated

Those hernia mesh implants to strengthen the thin muscle wall and tissue support can cause bad problems in some folks. The body rejects the invasive material in some patients. Local doctors don't recommend it here anymore. My dad had bad problems with his.

Your description of rash and spreading to your back. Check to make sure it isn't shingles. Hope not , , they can be ..old243

Just had hernia surgery in January and it was painful for 3 or 4 days but after that I was ok and ready for the 6 week restrictions to be over. Can't believe they didn't put you on some sort of antibiotic, hope all goes well.

I had hives similar to what you describe many years ago. The cause was codeine in one of my meds. Check out what you are taking for pain . Benadryl cured it fairly quickly

I have had 2 hernia operations and didn't get the mesh in either one... I didn't have any problems. Like that. I hope they find out what is causing it.

It's been a month since I had my hernia surgery and no real problems for me thankfully ! When i remember I will rub lotion with vitamin E on the incisions to help them heal up better.

I've been hammering out snare supports with a heavy hammer with no ill effects even I've finished up 10 dozen is all with another 25 dozen to go to fill all the orders so far ha ha
