I've talked with Tom on the phone and they use just about every part of the to make things, including doing the skull, tail, feet, claws, the pelts (of course) and they eat the meat. I imagine he gets $500 out of everything from one beaver. One of those shows have parts of them from past seasons. I saw one last week Marty was saying that Martin was higher then he had ever seen them... when I looked at the programing it was from 2015.
Garry- I have never met Tom, but have watched this show diligently for several seasons. I believe that he makes what he says. If you really delve into the show, he does EVERYTHING like the Native Americans did. That's how he makes his money, cause he's authentic.

Now, if you want to talk about the over exaggerated values of anything else to do with the show, I'm with you (and I don't think he makes quite as much as they say), but that's t.v. for ya!

At the FTA in Wisconsin Tom and his wife was there and were set up beside me got to talk to him off and on all weekend. Super guy we didn't really talk about the show much just talked about trapping and telling trapping stories. Can you make 1000.00 dollars off 2 beavers is the question if one guy can take a bar of steel and make a 30.00 horse shoe and another guy can take a bar of steel and make fine watch springs or other parts and make thousands then I say yes. If you take a beaver and scrape it dry it and sale it you are gonna get 12.00 you tan it and craft it. Now you have something that is worth what a individual is will to pay you for it based on what you want for it. Marketing can make a huge difference. I like your thinking and thinking outside the box can be a game changer.

$500.00 per beaver Would be a bit of a stretch. So lets say he got $40.00 for a beaver skull and $10.00 for the meat and the castors went for $10.00 and maybe he made a beaver tail wallet out of the tail and charged $80.00 for It that leaves just the hide and I don't see anyone paying $360.00 for It. I'm sure he's getting way over fur market prices but not that much.

Probably be more profitable to just sell a pile of winter beaver and castor on the raw fur market for 40 bucks apiece,

Me too but I think the value thing Is Inflated a bit. I remember one episode where Tom dragged his canoe 3 miles through the bush to get to some beaver pond. I think In most cases the narrator gets a little over the top. Not Toms fault just makes for better viewing.

A few years ago Marty Meiritto(?)was the guest speaker at the NationalTrappers Assoc. Banquet in Escanaba.Somebody asked him about some of the.claims on the show,he said they have no idea what the narrator is going to say about things on the show.
