Got this larger bait caster from my brother he picked it up from a friends estate..I know nothing about bait casters use only spinning reels. Told my brother I would see if this one was worth selling or maybe using on a catfish rod. He said fella he got it from had used it for muskie fishing.
Is a Walker 411 and says made in Japan 2327.. I'm guessing it's little older from what I could google.
Mostly wondering if it's worth selling or just try use it? Anyone got any ideas??
Seems to be in very good condition.

Bait casters are worth the effort to learn how to cast them. Don't skimp on weight. Without weight they are tough to cast. With enough to operate smoothly they are nice. Line doesn't twist like with a spinning reel and they will cast further. You will backlash it a few times. Dont get frustrated. just pull out line till it stops. There will be loops of line that rolled up backwards. One of those little picks for getting nuts out of the shell are slick for picking those loops out. Keep picking and pulling line out you will get that bird nest undone. Play with the little caps in the center of the side of the reel. Tightening them up will help with casting. You have to thumb the spool to avoid a backlash.

Don't load the rod like with a spinning rod. It took me a long time to learn that.

Use the casting rod like an extension of your arm.

Load your spinning rod for mechanical advantage.

Either hang into it for show or get rid of it. Those things will kill the arm and hand trying to reel anything if any size. I've retired all my older Ambassador 5500's and 6500's because the newer reels have a much greater mechanical advantage. Those old reels are cool but not worth the agony.

That’s more of a deep sea or trolling reel. You don’t want to “bait cast” with that one.
