Has anybody ever had a problem with their dog Eating their bell peppers and tomatoes ? My golden retriever will go in there and picks one off ,then he goes and lays down and eat it . Just seeing if anybody has ever seen their dog do that .

No, but I'd be having a problem with it.

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

The in laws acquired a stray dog couple years back that had this habit. Didn't take long for their other 2 dogs to figure it out when ya got 3 dogs in your garden sure didn't take long for them to pick it clean. Tomatoes, squash, bell peppers were all targets

In the 80's I had a really good, fantastic hunting Yellow Lab male who would sniff through the tomatoes and only pick off the ripest. Really funny to watch...for a while.

Had a golden years ago that ate some tomatoes off the plants, until I caught him doing it and scolded him for it. I had wondered why I wasn't seeing tomatoes ripen much.

My folks had a springer spaniel who would do this too, only the ripe ones. Never touched anything else in the garden.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Dogs eating vegetation is usually a sign of something missing in their diet. The dog that eats grass does not do it to up chuck. They are missing some sort of nutrition in their regular feed and trying to supplement it with what they find. Been studied by the dog folks for years. Don't know about one picking vegetables but it may be linked. Try feeding the dog(s) more chicken products. Your chicken bones from the table (if boiled to soften) are good to start with. All poultry drippings and scraps are much better than the feed grains in commercial dog foods and have solved a lot of nutrition problems for my dogs through the years. If whelping pups, beef liver when on sale, is good for the expecting mom and can be substituted for the chicken products Liver is high in the vitamins, and enzymes but it lacks the fats and amino acids that chicken provides. Too high of protein will stress a dogs kidneys and can be a non digestible type (ground up feathers) so don't always take what is on the outside of the bag as Gospel........................... the mike
