All over here along the lake in Wisconsin. There's a blight wiping out a lot of the evergreens.

Freeze-out kills them here occasionally-not the ones in the bush-the decorative lawn ones.
A couple years ago the harsh winter killed a lot of small cedars, and I lost both of my juniper bushes in front that had been growing since the house was built in '76.
Road salt will kill them along hi ways also.

Pine bark beetle is killing them by the millions in the mountain states. I think they're working their way east.

We have a nematode here that kills the pine trees that are planted. It might take several years but seems like they all die.

Yeah, it looks like someone dyed that one a rusty-red color.

Looks like a white pine which likely means white pine blister rust. You can work to lessen the effects of it, lots of information on the web about that.

My thoughts exactly.

Dig it out and burn it asap. They will spread like crazy if not taken care of immediately.

Not white pine. Needles and bark look more like some type of spruce. Tree to the right in picture up high looks pretty wispy. Meaning very light on needles. Also the tree top on the very far left in picture looks very sparce on needles. Are they dying from the top down? If so I believe it to be some type of insect. Usually if being attacked on the trunk. You would see some kind of entry holes from a boring type bug. Best to have some professional look at them. You may get some info from a county agent too.

If I saw that here I would think it had bag worms. We have had an asian beetle that was killing pine trees in our county several years ago. It got maybe 5% of the trees but never got the rest - I don't know why it stopped. Those had obvious 3/8" holes all around the trunk of the tree.

Looks like a white pine with nematode infection. I have this happen to around 20 trees a year all white pines, usually the year before they die the tree's needle clusters contract and don't put on new growth. The following year they usually die at no set time period just sporadically throughout the year. When they do decide to kick the bucket they go from dark green to yellowish, to brown and dead in little more that a month. If left to stand the bark will come off in about a year revealing riddled wood sort of looks like an ash borers work. I have cut and peeled a few of the sick ones and can find no evidence of beetles or borers, some have a blueish tint in the trunk core.

I looked into nematode treatment and it was difficult and expensive requiring several trunk injections and expensive nematocides. I have 20 acres of white pines about 20 years old and have had on luck controlling it did not start until about the 15 year in the ground. Good luck if you find something that works for you that is not cost prohibitive, let me know.

Here is what I can tell you about dying trees. It is never just one thing which kills them.
Pine trees have natural defenses for just about anything, including nematodes, pine bark beetles, rust, etc. What makes them vulnerable to these type of pests/diseases is stress caused by poor soil, drought, too wet, overcrowding, salt from the road or from extreme high tides.
Think about a tree which has been healthy for many years, then dies from whatever. As a tree grows, the roots spread further and further away. If the soil is significantly different at a specific distance away from the tree, it can result in the tree going into stress, and become vulnerable to whatever pest/disease which may be blowing through.
I have seen entire stands of coastal pines completely decimated by pine bark beetles. Why? A freak High tide from the previous year stressed them out to the point that they could not throw the beetle out with their natural defense which is pine pitch. The next year, new pines came up from seed and now every thing was just as it was prior to the high tide/ beetle invasion.

It’s white pine. Duckie has some good information which probably applies to your situation more than anyone else’s.
