Wow. I ordered stuff yesterday on the morning of the 29th, and had no idea. Glad I did. Good for you, Mr. Steck. Do what you do best, and knock it out if the park when you do.

I guess no more stopping by. Maybe it interrupted their figuring of their wholesale or on-line sales. It was kind of fun seeing their place...

I did plenty of business with Dakota Line and was always treated right. Mark and his team are great people!

The business of retailing is not for the faint of heart.
Sorry to see Mark convert, but I'm sure his reasons were planted a while back, and finally took root!

Good people with good products. I buy their products thru my local fur buyer and trapline supply dealer.
Now more than ever we need to support our local fur buyers, trap supply dealers, manufacturers and vendors who support our state and national associations.

Just ordered 3 dozen traps from them. Didn't need the darn things, but wish they had more.

Ive stopped there every year for the last 8 or so before season and bought stuff i probably didnt need, but wanted. I like smellin baits/lures before i buy it. Not that i probably know if what im smellin is good or not, but i still did it. I hope he still makes his baits-one of my favorite is his Laughing Lady, a sticky sweet smear bait for coon. Smells good enough to smear on bread with some peanut butter.

Just a bit of insight for everyone
-It's rare to find a company that manufactures, wholesales and retails.
-When we both wholesale and retail, we compete against our dealers.
-The majority of our products are sold through other companies. They specialize in retail and I've always felt they were far better at it then us.
-In my 18 years of running this company I've never really felt like I'm caught up on my work. It's become the norm to work all day long seven days a week. There are people in this world that have the ability to juggle multiple (and huge) projects and never think twice about it. They are rare and I'm not one of them.
-I have good people but they are very hard to find and keep.
-This move is contingent on our dealers selling our products. I feel it is win-win in this shrinking market. Time will tell.
-We will still sell to walk-in customers
-We will still do custom snare building with a minimum of 10 dozen snares
Peaceful waters
Mark

Mark, will you still be coming to and delivering to the conventions?

So I can still walk into the shop and buy gear? That just put a smile on my face!

A couple other notes:
-I love going to work. The Dakotaline staff is like an extended family to me. They allow me to "come and go" as I please.
-I enjoy the nature of the business and in particular developing new products, I have traveled the world on business
-My next chapter is a TV show on the Pursuit Channel, called Wiebe Trapline Adventures. It will air in October
-I have many other things in the hopper. Some are tied to the trapping industry and some not. I enjoy the "hunt".
