Just saw the same in Green Bay. Lack of coins so they ask to make exact payments if possible.

If we are paying far more with plastic there is no need to carry or make change so I can see where a culture of far less cash usage will lead to less coin change. Also with the rapidly increasing internet sales there is no change involved in those transactions. We buy a lot of script through our church and we use that for gas, coffee etc. so less change there as well.
