Interesting piece of history. During the Revolutionary War, the British held some American prisoners of war on ships. Conditions were brutal with minimal food rations. They were fed lobsters due to the fact that they were plentiful, cheap and considered "trash" food. Prisoners threatened to riot due to the large amounts of lobster they were forced to eat. Sounds like a terrible problem to have. Oh the humanity!!!

The live lobster I have tried from the Northeast is pretty good, in small doses. King crab right from the cooker is king. Fresh spot prawns are second in my book. I will eat way too many and end up paying for it with the spots. Dungeness is third. Lobster, for me, isn’t worth the price. I might feel differently if I lived by the ocean they come from. Super fresh is where it’s at with seafood.
Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

King crab is great, but the best seafood I've had is a tie between some big, fresh-caught Kodiak scallops, grilled, and snow crab we bought alive from a fisherman in Chignik, Alaska.

One thing about seafood is that fresh caught is by far the best. Too far inland and its not the same. It is pricey- but the IQF (Individually quick frozen) that is processed right on the boat will surprise you.I like it all.Lobster, clams, shrimp, and scallops. When I go to a restaurant I order seafood. I do to. I'm a fair hand with the fresh pork or aged beef so when I want to pay for someone else's expertise I usually pick seafood.

Love lobster and all seafood, only thing holding me back is the cost$$$ Lol.....years ago , Red Lobster had a promotion for ' Crabby Monday ' all you eat snow crab , mondays only. I went with a buddy a bunch of times. Ate a pile each time. Then after only a few months , it disappeared. I found out much later , it was considered one of the worst marketing failures of all time. Red Lobster lost piles of money on it. Like 3-4 million dollars in just one quarter. They underestimated the amount some people could eat , plus crab prices spiked just as they started the promotion. It was said they started to lose money on the 2nd or 3rd helpings. CEO at the time resigned due to the losses incurred. I helped with that , I could eat 8 or 9 servings in one sitting........burp......

Lobster isn't overrated...it's over priced, at least in my area. Claw meat is my favorite part. Claws are good but love the tail even more.

Travelling through the States when the kids were "Disney" age, attending all you can eat buffets and watching morbidly obese people eat themselves near to death on the featured items was actually better entertainment then Disney itself.

I’ve had ..off the boat ,5 pound lobsters. And they were just as tender...and yes the claws are the best. The tail meat is a big muscle that they use to swim with....so it’s a little tougher.
