Sounds like a terrible problem to have. Oh the humanity!!!

Medium-Rare Ribeye is the best seafood going IMO.

The live lobster I have tried from the Northeast is pretty good, in small doses. King crab right from the cooker is king. Fresh spot prawns are second in my book. I will eat way too many and end up paying for it with the spots. Dungeness is third. Lobster, for me, isn’t worth the price. I might feel differently if I lived by the ocean they come from. Super fresh is where it’s at with seafood.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

King crab is great, but the best seafood I've had is a tie between some big, fresh-caught Kodiak scallops, grilled, and snow crab we bought alive from a fisherman in Chignik, Alaska.

Too far inland and its not the same.

It is pricey- but the IQF (Individually quick frozen) that is processed right on the boat will surprise you.

I do to. I'm a fair hand with the fresh pork or aged beef so when I want to pay for someone else's expertise I usually pick seafood.

I’ve had some great FRESH seafood in my day. Caught lots of halibut while bear hunting in Alaska. Fresh Dungeness crab and shrimp from our traps there, dug clams while bears were watching me. Baked halibut in sour cream on the boat was fantastic. Caught lots of kings and cohos a couple years later while fishing from the same boat, they too were unforgettable.

As a kid, I’d go to Gulfport, Mississippi and shrimp with my uncle. He was a welder at the big ship yard, and had a shrimp boat he’d run on his days off. We’d gig flounder off the barrier island at night. He’d fry up shrimp or flounder that were hours old.

But I think the best seafood I’ve eaten were lobsters in Maine. I’ve been there eight times, and when I visit, I pretty much stick to lobster. I’m really fond of a good lobster roll....lots of good lobster shacks on Route 1.

Lol.....years ago , Red Lobster had a promotion for ' Crabby Monday ' all you eat snow crab , mondays only. I went with a buddy a bunch of times. Ate a pile each time. Then after only a few months , it disappeared.
I found out much later , it was considered one of the worst marketing failures of all time. Red Lobster lost piles of money on it. Like 3-4 million dollars in just one quarter. They underestimated the amount some people could eat , plus crab prices spiked just as they started the promotion. It was said they started to lose money on the 2nd or 3rd helpings. CEO at the time resigned due to the losses incurred. I helped with that , I could eat 8 or 9 servings in one sitting........burp...... grin

Lobster isn't overrated...it's over priced, at least in my area. Claw meat is my favorite part.

Travelling through the States when the kids were "Disney" age, attending all you can eat buffets and watching morbidly obese people eat themselves near to death on the featured items was actually better entertainment then Disney itself.

To each their own, but I think the claws are more tender. It's kind of like the difference between light and dark meat on a chicken or turkey. Sort of.

I’ve had ..off the boat ,5 pound lobsters. And they were just as tender...and yes the claws are the best. The tail meat is a big muscle that they use to swim with....so it’s a little tougher.
