What stakes are better. I know that Berkshire are light and strong but T bar are durable cheaper and easy to remove. I think I’m going to go for T bar stakes because I can cheaply make them myself but if the Berkshires are worth the money (including a driver) please inform me.

I prefer stakes with a nut welded on top. I always thought that T could cause a chain entanglement.

Eh...wot?

I quit using rebar long ago. The Berkshires are cheap, reusable, and no special driver is needed.

Need to know your target species.
T-stakes are for Coons and drowning rods/wire/cable. Not coyotes or other land predators. And heavy duty Berkshire’s will hold coyote, and do not need cross staked like normal rebar stakes with coyote.

True. I was thinking from a fox/coyote trapper's perspective.

I use the soft ground Berkshires on about 30" of cable on 90% of my coon traps. They hold in the soft crick bottoms where rebar won't.

Use both. Rebar for dry ground, and Berkshires for water sets. Rebar won't hold in soft mud, but the Berkshires will, and you can usually pull the Berkshires out by hand from the mud.

My ground is different than some of you guys. I had bad luck with rebar. Drags or Berkshires for me.

That is what I use ... I make my own. I have cable length in various length from 18 inches to 36 inches... I use the large size Berkshire for Yotes, fox and coon in creeks. 18 inch is good for coon and fox in clay. I don't use that many of them any longer so, I don't work at pulling them ... I dig down about a foot and cut them off. I make my own driving rods too. I use 1/2" rod grind a point on one end and weld a nut on the other.

Tbars are for water trapping only. You really have to trust the welds on land as the T comes flying off a lot when your beating on it with a 3lb hammer.

Berskshires either versions are just plain annoying to use. Use something with a fitted driver like bullet stakes, wolf fangs, or sting rays.
