I see someone has lobbed paintings of bald eagles, along with a photo of a domestic turkey, in my direction.
I had to laugh at the irony. The bald eagle paintings are especially aggressive and predatory in their depiction. Yet I seem to recall some folks taking exception to my statement that Americans are warlike.
I bet Anti-gov supported the invasion of Iraq at the time. Hundred to one odds. If he was old enough, beyond spanking age, that is.
Do you really want to debate Iraq? The invasion of Afghanistan? The Gulf War? Greneda? Or Viet Nam?
I'm not saying all the above military actions were unjustified; but they were clearly acts of war. As someone posted here the other day, our military turns people into WARRIORS.
I take back what I said about the wild turkey. Those eagle paintings are a perfect representation of current America.

We could make all you snowflakes happy and make the common barnyard sheep the national liberal symbol. The rest of us Americans will keep the eagle.
Eh...wot?

I actually like the Wild Turkey, unless I couldn’t t hunt it anymore, then I’m all for the Bald Eagle. Although from just what I’ve seen it portrayed as on TV, it’s a glorified buzzard. An Eagle does have a more warlike appearance, and I like the fact that some perceive us as warlike, better than being perceived as a push over.

The eagle symbolizes supreme power , authority , strength , and freedom . For a bird it represents the USA well
Our strength and military power has not only kept us free but has contributed to peace and freedom for others around the world
You should be .more appreciative of the America that has allowed you to live the make believe life you have , Jimmy

Canada's is the Beaver-it symbolizes our hard working ethic and beavers are mean as any animal but only rip you apart when attacked or cornered. Perfect symbol of Canada.
Eagles are sort of like a possum with wings.

I think of beavers as a tasty meat animal, that has cheap fur and relatively valuable castors, that is a nuisance because it flood out roads and property and destroys valuable trees. Keith
