The two traps pictured below are both examples of traps from the distant past. The big double long spring #4 trap was produced by a firm named Peck Stowe and Wilcox that had been making traps since about the time of the civil war. This particular style of trap was called an Oneida Pattern and was made with cast pans and bolted down jaws from the 1880s until about 1910. This trap is in excellent condition, is complete and the pan reads very well. Price is 65.00 plus 15.00 shipping in the US. LONG SPRING IS SOLD The other trap is an unusual #12 Oneida Jump trap with cast jaws and teeth. The larger brother of this trap is the #14 beaver trap with which many on this forum are very familiar. This is a #2 size trap and even in the period from about 1910 to 1925 when this trap was made, there was little use for a toothed trap this size. This trap has a strong spring, cast jaws with 6 cast in teeth and is in decent overall condition. The trap is painted black, likely long ago. The trap pan is blurred from age and wear and the lettering that remains is partially filled with paint so it does not read well at all. The size number 12 can be read.
