#1 coils or just stick with 1 1/2 for more versatility. I heard 1's are better for the rats as they are lighter and it makes it easier for them to drag it to deeper water.

I have not had good luck drowning rats in number 1 longs. 1 1/2:longs are much better, they have enough weight to keep the rat from climbing back out. Not sure about coils, but lighter is not always better.

I use 1.75s for my coon and rat trapping In water sets. The1.75 gets high hold on a rat and in my opinion It's better then a stop loss trap.

I use 1 1/2 coils for rats and coins and have no problems. Instant drown in the rats

I've seen rats climb up on my floats and stools when I used 1 1/2s but they are a good rat trap.

I use 1.5 with some extra chain. Down they go to Davy Jones.

I was fast pacing on my rat line In ND and I just used a cable hook up.

I use 1.5 long in deep water off bank with 4 ft extension chain, alwsys drown unless tangle up debris, this place i do that is hard walk on bank, impossible to in water. Neck or more deep off bank, can't walk along bank lot placez , apple an lure. Sit on bank, an make set but don't fall in, stake water edge with chain out water
