I am wanting to build an atv boom sprayer for my 4 wheeler. There is a range of nozzles that are available based on gallons per hr. What do I need? Any other ideas or help would be appreciated.

I'm old style. 20" spacing at 10 to 15 gallons per acre.

I just bought a pre-made boom with nozzles for an ATV at the farm supply store for about 70 dollars. Same with tank and pump.

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

In the fields I use a 90' boom on 20" centers. In my yard I like a single nozzle boom. Can be adjusted from 5 to 15 feet depending on the height and angle, and they're only $25. mike

You can look up ag places that sell tee-jet stuff and they will have a chart that tells the travel speed, pressure and gallons per acre. 15 gallons per acre seems to work for me with roundup and 20 is better for liberty.

Whether you buy your boom or make it its a good idea to have some kind of pressure diaphragm shutoff on your nozzles. That way when you shut your boom off the nozzles won't continue to leak off what fluid is in in your booms and you won't dribble herbicide on places you don't want it. An example of shut off is Teejet QJT8360-NYB Sprayer Nozzle Body Adapter with Diaphragm. You have to have the fittings to match your boom line and the caps that hold your spray tip that turn and snap on to the diaphragm body.

Speed, pressure and tip size is something that always goes together. Change one and everything changes as far as gal per acre.

I’ve got a 25 gallon sprayer with fold out booms. Bought it at ag supply company. I welded up a Reece hitch so I could mount the boom low to keep spray off of me. I can do a driveway in one pass. Really like it. The one con is a full 25 gallons on back of the quad makes steering miserable. Especially when using the spray wand. Pros are easy on easy off, boom and tank. I’ve got kids who love to ride the quad. Looking at a SxS dedicated for spraying in the future.

It depends on spraying a big lawn or pasture ground, timber ground ,or drive ways.
It's about as simple find the volume you want and stay with it.
Example ( we put a sprayer in the back of a side by side 110 gallon tank at 10 mph we got 11 acres per tank .
By checking flow rate which you should to get proper dosages.
It's just easier to keep (gpm), gallon per minute , the same so you are not having to calibrate everytime you turn around.
Just retired from railroad that was my job weed control 1100 miles of railroad track and right - way,,, 13 sub divisions ,complaints from county, state,

Also consider your mix rate.
