I thought about this last night and I wanted to share it with you all, since you could probably appreciate it more than most people.

I work in law enforcement on a college campus that borders a river. One morning about 3am we have to send an officer over to a dorm that is about a mile from the river on an “animal problem.” When the officer arrives, he finds a half drunk college student outside the building eating a Jimmy Johns sandwich with blood running out of his hand. Well you don’t have to be the most observant of people to see that there’s a story here, so the officer asks what happened. The guy proceeds to tell him that he had just got back from the bars and had ordered a sandwich to be delivered. He’s standing in the lobby waiting when he sees what he calls an “giant rat” come running down the street. Well, he has the same thought that most half drunk college guys would have at this moment, “I need to go chase this thing!” He did, and he ran it up in the bushes there by the building, at which point he corners it. Having nowhere to go, it starts making some kind of growling sound at him, which he interprets as nature’s way of saying, “pick me up.” He does, and gets bit through the meat of the hand between the thumb and first finger.
This is a problem, so he calls the police. While waiting on our guy to get there the sandwich arrives. Since he’s hungry and has nothing else to do at the moment he’s now eating a sandwich with a bloody hand while cornering a “giant rat” waiting on the cops to show up.

Well our guy gets there, hears this story, and calls for medical. He decides he can’t leave this ravenous “giant rat” on the loose so he whips out his asp baton and whacks it on the head. Apparently Ms. Animal Rights is watching all this play out from her top floor window and she screams, “You murderer!” to which he replies, “Shut up and mind your own business!”

Long story short, the guy finished his sandwich, got stitched up by the medics, the young lady went to her safe space, and what wound up being a nutria was disposed of. There’s never a dull moment on a college campus!

The only mistake I see the officer made was, he should have hit the student on the with his baton and fed the sandwich to the nutria...

he should have said Rabies testing or the genius over there needs a full round of shots.

So you think that would have been wise to have the officer should tell a drunk collage student that he needs a full round of "shots"? Student may have misunderstood that for the wrong kind of shots.

I turned a half grown nutria loose in our fraternity head once upon a time as a prank on my frat brothers after rumors that we had a rat in the building.

Another time a pair of drunk frat brothers asked for one of my skinned nute carcasses and went to the neighboring sorority and rang the bell...when a girl opened the door one of them held it up by the tail and said: "Pardon me ma'am, is this your cat?"

Anyway, good to hear that nutria are still getting involved in higher education.

OR, fed the STUDENT to the Nutria! LOL
