Those look delicious. Nice big red berries. None of that reddish/greenish stuff you see in the stores.

Those look very nice. Ours are almost done here. Yesterday's picking was far smaller than the two prior. I have 1 row of 25 original sets that is about 24 foot long and have picked 35-40 quarts. They have done very well this year.

We have 10acres of berries. The season was over last Saturday social distancing was a huge problem.
The other owners didn't take my advice and failed to frost protect and It cost us all the king berries. We had huge crowds but the actual picking was pretty slow.

My strawberries are still flowers. Been a cold summer here. We had a killing frost June 25 and it hasn't warmed up to 60 since then. My squash are done for, and not much of anything growing good.

Sorry to hear yukonjeff. Our strawberries are putting out and our raspberries are coming in great. A friend is bringing his two little upicks(he calls them that) out this weekend to fill some buckets. Personally I hate picking berries now. My back hates me and I wind up crawling down the rows on my hands and knees while the wife makes fun of me. I haven’t figured out a good way to carry my bucket while crawling either.
Can’t hardly wait for the raspberries(easier to pick), all the sugar loaded treats to eat! Wife makes some stellar Dutch pancakes I like to fill with sugar soaked berries. Yes I’m a little fat. I need it though it gets cold here.

I sure envy your nice warm summers there in the interior or South Central for that matter. windy, wet, and cold is the usual summer here. Sucks for gardening and beekeeping.

My strawberries winter here just fine, I cover them with dead grass and put a plywood on top to hold it down from the wind. I will get some berries here later this month. I let the village kids pick them when ever they come around.

When I want berries I have never ending tundra starts right up on the hill above the house. I can pick all the blue cranberries, salmon berries and black berries I want later this month, and will freeze bags full for winter, and make all my jam for the winter.

Cant forget the agutuk smile

The end of the season the berries are fewer and smaller but they make the best jam and jelly as they are very sweet. Raspberries are a few weeks away yet. The cherry tree and the current bush have very, very poor production this year and I am saving some rhubarb to make some freezer jams. I like to mix tart cherries, strawberries, currents and rhubarb with dark brown sugar or maple syrup but won't have currents or cherries this year.

The best tasting strawberries are the tiny wild ones but it would take a week to pick a gallon. The domesticated varieties do not even come close.

^^^^ yup you got that right. They contain a lot less water per pound as well needing a lot less sugar to make a jam fit for kings.
