Last few years I used corn cob grit bought from the farm store and it seems to do a pretty good job. Just wonder what other used like stall pellets or saw dust and how well it works . -Thanks

I used corn cob horse bedding. It's in a pellet form. I can get it at our local farm store. Used it in my tumbler that I made out of a dryer. I'm building a 4ft tumbler right now, will be able to get a lot more critters in.

I'm using corn cob horse bedding pellets too. Works great in my dryer/tumbler. That's another thing that ADC mentioned to me.

I saw the corn cob pellets last year but didn’t think they would work very well. Are you drying wet fur or finishing them out with the pellets.

OK when do you put in the pelt? Coon pelt after scraped. Coyote after scraped or after dryed> I have a dryer just for tumbler with No heat just cool air. What should I do next. I have a barrel of planner shavings, would that work? Thank You

Birdman, I put furs in after they are washed to dry them. Then flesh and dry. Then through again before I sell them. Hope that helps. Otis has a thread in the archives that is real good.

For drying up a wet and muddy pelt the pellets work well. For cleaning dried furs the finer cob grit works better.

I've had really good luck with Americas Choice brand Mini Flake wood shavings using Cocats methods.

Both actually. I use it to dry slightly moist furs, not wet, then I add clean media when I tumble everything prior to selling.
