The couple I made I just put the wire cone into end of a plastic 5 gal bucket. Drilled holes in bucket put in enough weight in so would sink hold it down. Is funny I just threw one of the buckets the other day because was sun dried cracked. Even though have set them out in years couldn't get myself to throw the wire cone. Guess after seeing this will have to drill some hole in another bucket try it again.

When I was a young-un my grandfather gave me a stake with a kitchen fork pounded flat on the end. Spent many afternoons lifting rocks in the shallow riffles spearing those things. My grandmother would boil up the tails with spices. Can’t do that anymore with current regs.

Try under a highway bridge where there’s a lot of boulder and rock rubble for your traps. When you get a couple hundred a night your on.

Dump them in a salty brine to purge them first.

Looking good. If you don't mind my asking what are you using for bait? Now all you need to do is build ten more traps.

How big is the hole in the funnel beaverfoot?

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

That's a nice trap! When I talked to the dnr they said the opening size is different between lakes and trout streams something to check if your doing it in WI.

beaverfoot that trap is a work of art.

I'm going to make 10 or 20 in the next week. I have had it in my head to go get some, I should have some time in the next month.

Wild are you in the river or a creek with them traps? I haven't looked at the regs for a while I think my traps I made with 2 inch opening??
After looking at your posts. Now I know I'm going to have to put mine out again try it ..
I would think a guy could take everything you don't eat throw it all in grinder make paste. Then use that for coon bait. When I trap coon I mostly trail set so never used that much bait. I never tried it when I had the left over myself but thought about it.

Yes it is, they look super nice. I'm gonna have to call our DOW and make sure I understand the regs right that we can't use anything bigger than a 1" hole.
