Has anyone on here tried the air fry ovens you see advertised on TV? I don't own the house or appliances where I live and will more than likely live till I die. The gas range that is here the oven and 2 burners won't light. I tried to clean the pilot light area, but I couldn't get it done.. I talked with a repair shop and the told as old as it is, 30 to 35 years, the pilots needed replaced and I think the thermocouple in the oven needs replaced. They roughly estimated the at least $235 to $250. I can buy one of the air fryers for that amount and cook anything I would want in it. If I should kick the bucket, my son or someone else could have the Fryer.

On TV they make things looks so easy and tasty, but I have never ate anything fried that wasn't fried in some kind of grease, lard or butter etc. It seems to me that fried chicken and bunch of other things would be pretty bland tasting without the grease. The fryer I am looking at is at ... emerilairfryer360.com ... Give me some common sense answer to these questions please.

Not sure Garry about the air fry thing, but you did nail what I put in bold lol. If you don't own the oven, rent? Why is it your responsibility to pay for repairs?

I have one. It can cook everything I can cook in any other sort of oil fryer and make it taste just a good if maybe not better. The only thing I dont really like the taste of while cooking in it is fish.

I use an air fryer for lots of things. French fires are good, so are chicken wings. I have also made Canada goose breast and whole duck in them. I like them. They are basically a small convection oven.

We have one. We've cooked lots of stuff in it and it works well. Haven't tried it on vegetables other than french fries so I don't know about veggies. We have used it for all sorts of meats and even cooked a couple of mini-pies in coffee mugs. It's just a tiny convection oven. If you can cook it in a convection oven, it will cook in an air fryer. The only down side is the clean up. It's not bad but I'm a big fan of the single pot or single pan meals. An air fryer has 3 parts to clean.

We had an air fryer. Didn't like it. For the way we eat an instapot (combination pressure cooker, slow cooker, steamer, saute) is much more practical. Cost about $ 60.

We cook veggies in it, anything you would cook in the stove like french fries, onion rings, chicken wings ect.
Bacon, burgers, hot dogs too. Sometimes you just have to find a method that works best.

Ours came from target for $125. And it was a larger one.

This link from Amazon shows some different kinds and prices to compare so you can see what different options are out there.

We use ours numerous times a week. Mealtime gets crazy this time of year, so it's just so convenient and fast to cook in it. Also has to be a little healthier for you.

I bought one and used it once. French Fries for us took 2-3 baskets (tiny basket) full and at 20 minutes.

I prefer my instant pots. Got my mom and instant pot made by crock pot (I think $40 on amazon) and it has been awesome.

I live in a house that was my brothers... he was going to fix it, but then two bouts of cancer and he left us. I have the right to live here until I die, but don't plan on doing that for a day or two. His daughters now own the house but they won't put any money in it. I will still keep the house part up, but not a new range. I looked around for a cheaper used range and but only one I found was a small one and I don't want one of the small ones.

Thank you for the responses ... I will check out Amazon.

Garry, you can buy an air fryer on the Goodwill Auction for under $10.00, plus some shipping at:

https://www.shopgoodwill.com/Listings

Mr Handy Appliance Parts Center, at 195 E John St, Springfield, OH 45505, sells very cheap parts for repairing appliances. They give free handouts on how to repair the appliance. They will also talk you through how to do the repair. It's a great, very helpful, cheap store.

We have a Nuwave Pro, Infrared Oven that works very well.

Will I’m in the pro air fryer camp. We have one that we use pretty much every day. One thing they’re really good at is reheating stuff quickly and keeping it the same consistency that it was when you first made it. We’ve found it to be faster than the oven and your house doesn’t smell like grease when you fry stuff. I think you’ll like it if you try one, especially if you are cooking for yourself and no more than one or two more people.

We got one this spring .My wife is an excellent cook so she knows about making good food Their is a bit of a learning curve to it but not difficult .Since you are doing something in a way you never did it before that should be expected But you will need to keep the direction handy for a while. I recommend if you get one get a large size one because than you can make extras and freeze them for later or just have left overs We have made steaks ,fish, beef vegetables french fries . hard boiled eggs, soup, casseroles bacon and more .IT bakes broils air fries pressure cooks dehydrates and slow cooks Because of the way it operates all of you grease and fat are on the bottom of the container and your food is not floating in it .And after all that and it cleans up very quickly and easy Buy one but get a good one..

If anybody has found a way to fry fish in one that taste like fried fish I'd love the recipe. I've tried several different ways, recipes, and it never tastes like fried fish should. Maybe it's impossible to do in one.

Sorry to hear that Garry and I see now what predicament your in. I can't help with the air fryers because I've never seen one. I know I'd be lost without my toaster oven!

One of the reason I was interested in one of these is to fry fish... So if I get one.. that will be one of my primary goals to figure out the how to get the fried fish taste... will repot back to you on that.
