So the clutch bolt broke and the clutch fell off of the 325 JD rider. It already has a helicoil in it. Third time it's happened. So this will turn into a project. I mow about 3.5 acres. Looking for a zero turn 60" deck. Of these three machines, who owns one, and are you happy with it? In no particular order, Number 1 - exmark radius s series. 2 - Kubota komander pro z421. 3 - hustler fastrak.

I use a hustler fastrack 60 inch to mow about 10 acres. Pretty happy with it other than the ride is rough. But I am mowing old farm field, not a manicured lawn.

Toro Z master we have had two over 17 years. Went to a larger deck is the reason for buying the second mower.

I have a Kubota 725Z 60" gas. Wish it was diesel but other than that, it works well.

I just went through this selection myself. My choices were Exmark, Hustler, Scag, and Kubota. I went with Scag because I felt like it was the best built, and all made in the US. My second choice was Hustler, but the dealer representative knew nothing and couldn't answer simple questions about the mower so I had no confidence in the dealer. Do yourself a favor, whatever you buy, buy their commercial quality mower. It will be head and shoulders quality above the residential quality, and depending on your age, you could be one and done.

I use a hustler super mini z 54”cut 23 hp Kawasaki engine. I mow 7 acres with it here at the house then another 1 acre at my moms never had a problem with it till last year then I had to finally replaced the engine after 15 years . So I can say it’s held up good and worth the money.

Here's my $.02, pay someone else to mow. Here's why, by the time you figure the cost of the new mower and the gas and maintenance on it over say the next 8 years, you could have had it mowed for you and it would only cost near the same as what you have to spend to do it yourself. Then after the 8 years you get to start all over because the mower is worn out again. It's sure nice to come home from fishing that day and find a freshly mowed yard. smile

My brother mows a 20 ish acre cemetery 9 months out of the year. He puts a crap ton of hours on his zero turns in a year. He buys commercial John Deere zero turns. He does his own maintenance on them and our local dealer is top notch.

I may have the worst of both worlds. I have a gravely 60" and I pay somebody to mow my 5 with it.

Had a hustler since 06 or so. Great mower. Change oil and the blades and it’s good to go. Wife keeps 5 acres looking great every summer.

Y'all must have some cheap grass cutters or something.

Here it costs $80 each cutting to have my yard mowed. It has to be mowed atleast once a week to keep up with it.
That is $320 per month minimum.
I bought my bad boy for $3300 new. I use roughly 4 gallons of gas per cutting. Gas is $179 here right now. Lawnmower payed for itself in 11 months vs having someone else do it.

Kubota is a decent mower

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Very true! I've seen that in the Exmark and there is a big difference in home use and commercial. Strongly suggest to stick with the Kawasaki engine for what ever mower you get if you have a choise.

Several variables in there. Many steep hills to mow. I went through this process last year and ended up with a Cub Cadet steering wheel zero turn. Most of my yard is pretty good hills. Also buy the engine. I got the one with a Kawasaki. I've been impressed with the cub. Went to my sisters two weeks ago and tried their new ariens out. It had a Kawasaki. Really good mower, with great reviews, but it was sort of slower moving. Last year when I was looking the Cub dealer had a variety of used mowers. An old friend works on maintenance there. He said for the money the used bad boy they were selling was the best buy.

I use a gravely 60" myself on 4.75 acres. None of it is flat. Lost one bolt last year but that has been the only problem with it over three years. I also use it to move my boats and other small trailers around the place.

That said, I know four professional mowing guys that use nothing but the kubota diesels. They tried about every other mower and they all four settled on the kubota diesels. If I ever have to replace mine I will do the same.
