Well, we gained a bit. The one address is defunct. Could that email address in some fashion be stuck in the tman system and causing the problem that I began with?

Even if that were the case, it could not explain how Ken's message with the correct address timed out before getting to me.

It shouldn't as long as you type in the new address when attempting to email posts or threads. Have you tried that yet ?

The odd thing is that the email reply you sent to me, your email is unsecured. Dunno if that does anything for the tman issue

I have used my current email address successfully on the tman forward system for years. Have really no idea where the old one popped up but if there is somewhere deep in tman bowels where it still lurks, it surely should be replaced.

That tnics one is the one you registered with, and is still in the system.

Paul: If you can remove the tnics address and replace with the one i provided by PM, that might help some. Your email DID NOT come through. did you use the tnics for that attempt?

It won't let me change that one.

Paul: When I registered was when I still had my crank computer. I replaced that with a battery version years ago.

No message Ken. The only person(?) who has gotten through was SniperB. Is he really a person? or who knows? You have tried 3 times, Paul twice and Sharon once and none have penetrated the maze. Some had an old invalid email address but three(two by Ken and one by Paul) should have had my correct current address.

Well I have to believe that your email provider is not being straight with you. I would call them again and ask them to please re-boot their server.

I would also open either a Yahoo or Gmail account just to use with TMAN

Well, I started out thinking that perhaps Tman had a tech issue but also was pretty sure that I had one. It now appears that the issue is entirely mine. I will quit troubling all you kind folks who have aided me and head off into the vast unknown of "tech world" in a quest from which I may never re-emerge. Thanks for all the help. JIM

I hope it gets straightened out. I doubt it has anything to do with your computer. It COULD be OE. But I suspect it's the provider.........

WAIT A MINUTE: When you got the NEW address today, did you reconfigure OE to retrieve mail from that new address or is it still trying to go to the tnics address ?

I have had the "new" email address for years and have successfully used it on tman for years. In a fairly detailed session with a tech person he found something in the provider stuff that might have been removing the forwarded emails from tman as spam and wrote an exception for the tman computer or server address but which would not have touched the normal pms. I will have to test to see if the forward now works again. He worked at it a bit(had control of my computer) and left me with a statement that there still was the unresolved issue of why at least a couple direct email to email attempts between Ken and me or Paul and me were not completed. Hope to get an answer there as well. Thanks again all.

I apologize for jumping in late on this discussion and possibly being redundant, but I have done this to myself numerous times when I was in a hurry. When trying to email a post or thread (not a PM) to myself, I click the Email Post button on the thread below one of the posts and get the screen captured by Paul below.

In a hurry, I see my own email address already filled into the field above Paul's arrow and do not even notice the field Paul is pointing to which must be filled out with the email address for sending the post or thread. At the bottom of that screen I click Send Email and the following confirmation screen pops up momentarily ...

[Linked Image]

That screen starts with a message saying Email Has Been Sent but if you look quickly before the message disappears and you are returned to the forum, it reports that An email of this post has been sent to . (Note the space where the email address would have appeared, but there is none because I did not fill one into the field Paul pointed out. In other words, it has been sent nowhere.

Sometimes I repeat that whole failed operation a few times quickly before I slow down and see what I omitted.

In stark contrast, if I am reading a PM and click the Email Thread To Me button, the PM thread is immediately emailed to the email address I have stored for this site and it appears in my email without any further input on my part.

Maybe that will help a few of you,
Patrice

(Others may have to look at whose ISP might be blocking a series of IP addresses - that's a load of fun!)
