He found me 9 years ago while I was out in the woods of PA scouting for deer. He was just a tiny gray kitten then and followed me through the woods crying. So I stuck him into my shirt pocket and took him with me to the friends place I was staying at. He had a dog that would have eaten this little guy like a skittle so I kept him and fed him in his garage and he came with me in my shirt pocket on my walks throuat 19:gh the woods. When I went back to my boat in the Bohemia river MD I bought a can't transport box and he came with me. he went to the vet a couple times for his shots etc. But other than that never got his feet on dry land again till we moved to where we are now. He was always a little bit of a feral cat and did not like to be picked up but came for his snuggles in his own time. He started acting a little strange a couple of days ago and went down hill fast. We had a vet appointment for tomorrow afternoon at 16:00 but he checked out at 19:00 tonight on my lag on the deck watching the sun set. He was special and shaped my life as I am married to the crazy ct lady and without him she would not taken as much of a liking to me as she did I am sure. He should have been for that the best man at our wedding but he was never one for crowds. RIP Velcro

Sorry for your loss Scuba, RIP Velcro!! That's a great story.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

That's a bummer. We lost two last year. It's amazing how attached you can get to a critter.

Yup the family here on board just got one member less for sure. We cut a track into the woods leading from the boat to where the house is gong to be. There is a very small clearing half way down that track that has the evening sun on it. Thats where he is now looking over to rocky top. I'll walk by there every evening when I take Fin for his walk.

I hate cats. Especially the ones which have slithered into my life, suckered me into caring about them to the point that I looked forward to seeing them when I came through the front door, only to die and force me to go into complete denial that I cared about a cat. I have had some dandies over the years. I had a real mean one which my cat-hating, POS brother-in-law asked me what I'd trade for it. I have never come out of a trade with him on the good side, so I said no deal. Lots of folks will bemoan about cats being blood thirsty killers of wildlife. While I can't argue that point, sometimes I can personally relate to those very traits. Yep, cats, what's not to hate?

I hear ya Carl and we have another 6 of those furry folks on board and every one of them has a different character. Velcro always had the top bunk in the cat tree in the bedroom and when I woke up this mornings spot was empty. None of the other guys has claimed his top spot yet.
