Yeah, he, my wife and I have killed quite a few but I really don't think we'll ever top his first one. The good thing is we love eating them!

The skull looks awesome. How did you cleaned the skull?

I boiled mine, big mistake I was told. I missed B&C by 3/8", probably shrinkage from boiling the skull? I saw a bear skull on a plaque and wanted to do the same. The rug is 7'-2" from nose to tail, bearly fits on the wall. Pardon the pun... Bear was taken spring of 1986.

Very nice work, JP.
Teeth look pretty good, for the size of that bear.
Is that an extra small tooth in front of lower canine, or one out of line?
Thanks

The hunter that shot him cleaned the skull himself a few years ago, but he never degreased it or whitened it.
So he brought it to me to do that.

I always macerate any skull I get in fresh.

Here’s what the skull looked like when I got it.

You can see that tooth better in these photos I just posted. That tooth is worn down like that.

Jurassic Park, My skull is cleaner that how you received that skull but about the same color, how did you get it so white?

Poor picture, appears much whiter than it is.

Rendezvous, first step to a white skull is it needs to be degreased. So I degrease in hot water with dawn detergent, then I whiten with peroxide.

That rug looks good!

Very nice JP!! I just pulled a few deer skulls and as well as a few fur bearing critters from their masceration tubs, it’s definitely stinky stuff and I’m glad I live in the country so I can use that method. Do you use a combination of commercial strength hair dresser powder and peroxide to whiten or just peroxide?

Just peroxide. 35% peroxide. The kind that will burn your house down if you’re not careful.
