My goal is to trap 100 critters in total, not sure if I'll do it, but thats ok, maybe I can get more than 100! That would be awesome, we'll see though. smile

Run a fall mink line, river canoe line for beaver, otter and muskrat in December and then snare and foothold trap on and off all winter. No numbers goals, just to push myself, fall through the ice a bit, and spend some late nights snowshoeing into frozen beaver ponds and working in the fur shed. Looking forward to running footholds for the first time, #4 double longs for beaver and 1.5 pinch pans for mink.

Also making stuff with my wife over the winter with last year's fur that I sent to the tanner.

Second season so my goals have to do with learning skills
1. Learn to put up fur better
2. Learn some water sets for coon
3. Learn how to collect skunk quill
4. 30 coon, 10 skunks, 3 red fox

These are good goals and I agre with Myside, I like to get 100 furs in total, and this is technically my first season since last year I only trapped the end of January and February... this year though I’m going to hit the fur hard when I can but focus on school and swimming for the swim team first.

In terms of numbers my goals for this year:

15 coyotes
40 coon
3 otter (max per trapper before the regional quota is reached)
1 wolf
1 cat

Not going after the beaver very much this year, as they are a ton of work to put up. I might try to catch 5 or 6 beaver though.

Numbers wise I would like to hit 50 coyotes, 7 bobcats, 200 coon and a couple otter

I would like to have my first true double on coyotes(I’ve had them within 100 yards but never right next to each other)

I would also like to work on putting up fur

I'm hoping to take my fur from trap to garment. Doing all the steps myself we'll see how it goes

Have fun, enjoy the outdoors, sell some fur.
